Thanks for the help everyone. stove stores are nor open around here today sunday, I bought a inferred thermometer it is a cheap one temp only goes to 240 gegrees anyway I checked the stove pipe and temp was on average about 200 degrees depending where I checked except for right near the top of the stove where it was higher. is this about normal? temperature in teens for lows and 20s for highs house stayed 69 to 70 burning a little over 80 lbs of coal in 24 hours. I seem to have the feed adjusted right. only thing left is the draft fire seems ok but I don't know . in the mean time co detectors on every level of house
one more thing I put that inferred thermometer in wall on second floor where chimney runs temp was about 100 gegrees normal or not?

i was wondering if I ran my stove without the thermostat conected and it ran full time how much coal should I burn. 85000 BTU unit running just about max any thoughts?
