Bought an older Reading stoker that was sitting in a barn for the last 5 years for 50$. The electronic timer was defective, will operate it manually, bought a new combustion blower with some modification, hot air blower was fine. Everything works fine now after few hours of trial, ready to heat my garage next season.

Somebody told me To put refractory bricks on that plate, brick gets hot and save heat instead of going up the chimney. Did you center that plate or push it backward?
