Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Alaska stoker 2

Post by Mattw205 » Sun. Nov. 19, 2017 5:58 am

I have a stoker. It vent out of the bottom of the back. I’m setting up a power vent and I bought the field controls wmo-1 fume switch from field controls. It’s the same one as the stove stores sell but instead of a threaded tube it just has a tube with a flange on the end meant to mount in the stove pipe. Would it be a problem mounting it in the pipe right as it exits the stove or should it really go right into the fire box? There is already a hole in the fire box for it but then I’d have to drill additional screw holes into the back of the stove which I wasn’t crazy about.

That fume switch should be threaded with a nut that threads on the inside I think.

It activates/opens switch when negative stack pressure goes to positive and is a safety. So don't let it be buried in any amount of fly ash. Mount on vertical pipe wall where you can reach in nearby opening to tighten inside nut, mentioned above, is handy too.

I thought it was temp sensitive not pressure. when flue goes positive or blocked, the heat leaks out the switch hole and heats up the switch and trips the stoker to shutdown.
