I know the heating season is ending but I am looking at next season already.
I have noticed on the HS Tarm site that they really push the heat storage system.
I am wondering if anyone has tried this with their coal boiler. I have an AHS hand fired multi fuel boiler and if this heat storage tank will work with a coal boiler? Anytone have any theories/ ideas ???

Ron, I think you managed to find the oldest unanswered post on the forum.

Insulated storage tanks are used with wood gassifcation boilers, since the boilers need to run long and hard to reach the proper state of combustion. This is not necessary with anthracite - keep the energy in the coal and burn it when you need it.

What distance will the auger need to carry the pea coal?

If the pipe would be with little to no uphill rise to travel you might get away with a rugged leaf blower to blow the pea coal into the basement hopper for some savings over what the flex auger's final costs could be.

In my musings I have found ways to move pea coal with a vacuum as an experiment...presently the project is temporarily moth balled though. :)

Are you asking for the leaf blower method, Ron?

If so, member *coalkirk* showed his in another thread...some videos posted to view what was intailed with his at that time...he has since made some changes to some methods used...
