Just to add the current main document that replaced the original one makes no mention of coal other than this:
• Develop and Deploy Clean Coal Technology. Carbon capture and storage technologies hold
enormous potential to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions as we power our economy with
domestically produced and secure energy. As a U.S. Senator, Obama has worked tirelessly to
ensure that clean coal technology becomes commercialized. An Obama administration will
provide incentives to accelerate private sector investment in commercial scale zero‐carbon coal
facilities. In order to maximize the speed with which we advance this critical technology, Barack
Obama and Joe Biden will instruct DOE to enter into public private partnerships to develop 5
“first‐of‐a‐kind” commercial scale coal‐fired plants with carbon capture and sequestration.
Actually if you look on his site you'll find very little concerning coal except for statements like the one above which conveneiently leave out the fate of existing technology.. Most of it revolves around green technology which of course is astronomically more expensive.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Exactly, they'll be taking money from coal and use it to subsidize green plants like solar. The money being used to subsidize the building of new plants should instead be used for development of both coal and green solutions instead of dumping it down a black hole. The U.S. citizen is just paying more for energy in the end. These costs will rise as coal becomes artificially more expensive to operate.

An Excerpt From the American Thinker that really made chills run down my spine:
And what about his gloating about driving businesses to bankruptcy? Has there ever been a presidential candidate who looked forward to the prospect of destroying someone's life's work and costing thousands of people their jobs?

Why is it that the Obama end users can't conceive that the coal companies and power plants will pass on the cost of any tax to the consumer. You can tax coal at $100 per ton, but that means it will become prohibitive to turn on your lights because you will be the one paying the tax. We are headed for a third world economy and BO is leading the way with McCain just behind him. Wake up people, the jury is rigged and the taxpayer is headed for prison. Quit watching CNN and Fox for your information because they will only post news that furthers their agenda or the agenda of their sponsors.

And there's more: In the same interview in which Sen. Barack Obama said that he would cause coal-burning power plants to go bankrupt, he also said that, as president, he would purposefully cause energy prices to “skyrocket.”

Can you believe this guy, and the SF Chronicle sat on this for 9-1/2 months?
WTH, he not only promises to crush hundreds of thousands jobs directly involved with the Coal industry, but he's also going to RAISE Electricity prices on the rest of the Country to teach us how WE should live. WE are in for a world of hurt folks....this the kind of CHANGE we don't want.

Nov. 9, 2007, interview on Iowa Public Television's "Iowa Press,"
"I think it is important for us to send some price signals to change behavior. You know, if electricity goes up, people start becoming more mindful of their electricity bill."

"Number one, we're going to have to start doing a better job of conserving on energy," Obama said. "Americans like to drive their big SUVs. They like to leave all the lights on in their house. We're going to have to change our habits."

"We're going to have to cap the emission of greenhouse gases," Obama said. "That means that power plants are going to have to adjust how they generate power. They will pass on those costs to consumers. … A lot of us who can afford it are going to have to pay more per unit of electricity, and that means we're going to have to change our light bulbs, we're going to have to shut the lights off in our houses."

and
You know, when I was asked earlier about the issue of coal, uh, you know — Under my plan of a cap and trade system, electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket. Even regardless of what I say about whether coal is good or bad. Because I’m capping greenhouse gases, coal power plants, you know, natural gas, you name it — whatever the plants were, whatever the industry was, uh, they would have to retrofit their operations. That will cost money. They will pass that money on to consumers.
His words not mine.... This is the man you Democrats want to elect as President.

I really wanted to stay out of this political B.S. but I can't take this anymore. First of all neither one of these guys are going to be good news for America. However my eyes became open when My brother, who has masters in political science and is a DIE HARD DEMOCRAT who has never voted for a republican in a presidential election even when Jimmy Carter ran against Regan informed me today that he is voting for McCain. Number one reason is Obama's wife is a well documented proponent of anti-racism and has vowed to fire all non black staff at the white house when her husband is elected. Secondly anyone in there right mind can't for one moment believe that all of money BO is rasing is legit and isn't coming from special interest groups. Third he changes his story more than most people change their underwear. Fourth his liberal agenda will not only hurt this country it will bring about a depression that makes the great one look like a picnic. Simply you can't spend more than you make and he will at least double the deficit in four years. Not that Bush has helped in this area either. Secondly if you have read his energy policy in depth what you will see is the same principals outlined in the video above. He thinks by artificially incresing the price of enerygy that will help the country. Hello that is one of the main reasons the economy is where we are today. And the man has no room to talk about gas guzzlers because until early this year he drove a hemi chrysler around. I think my brother said it best with the comment the democrats aren't for the average american anymore. America was founded on the notion of freedom from overly oppressive goverment (aka socialism) which is what the BO wants. If he is elected we might as well call ourselves the sociallist states of america or the new soviet republic . end rant

Apparently almost 50% (91 out of 199) of elected Republicans also looked out for "who lines their pockets". Some reason you don't assign those 91 Republicans any blame? Are the Republicans so weak they can't vote what they say they supposedly represent? What about the 63 Democrats that voted against the bill - are they part of the "problem" also?

It's one side supporting the other side's flawed legislation so they can exploit it for their benefit while blaming someone else.

Glad Americans work in the mines. Wish we had more of them , if you ask me, earning union wages too. Now I wish Americans supported American products and workers by not shopping at WalMart, where everything they have is from China. But, most Americans talk a good game, but then go buy the cheapest product they can find, regardless of where it is manufactured. "GO American, Unless I have to pay for it" should be our country's mantra.
