The poorly-organised coal mines and transportation by Western Coalfields Ltd (WCL) have severely hit the agricultural community of this region . Coal dust has settled on the top soil and on crops, jeopardising farming.

This has led to farmers of Pimpalgaon, Junad and Brahmani in the Wani tehsil threatening to commit suicide. As many as 23 farmers from these villages have sought permission from President Pratibha Patil to end their lives.
Now that's what you call extremism. Greenpeace "ain't" got nothing on them.
