Hello all,

I just got an estimate for my install of the insert and the liner. Here it is:

-pick up, deliver, and install insert (Hitzer 503)
-remove top 2 courses of firebrick
-remove damper frame
-install 30'x6" stainless steel liner (Homesaver brand)
-insulate liner with 1/2" flex wrap and armor mesh

$1750

Does this seem reasonable?

Thanks!

Yes.

Not sure of Hitzer price alone, but a 30' insulated liner is worth 600-800 alone.

If you are unable to do any of the above items yourself, I would say its a pretty good price. The 503 is a 600 lb behemoth so let them break their backs. Mine was delivered on a 4 wheel dolley. It was a task to get it from the dolley to the fireplace cavity but we used cardboard and slid the heavy ox into the fireplace opening. Let us knows how it goes. Good luck...you will love the insert!! Dave

$ 1650 is the retail price the insert sells for here. Add sales tax, $675 for SS liner $450 for labor & 95 for permit.
Grand total $ 3009.50 complete. So, IMHO $1750 installed witha SS liner is an excelent price. Make sure you get the liner - all the way to the top of your chimney.

Or is that 1750 just for the labor & liner? Then I would say you are too high.

$1750 does not include the price of the insert. The insert is an additional $1300. So a grand total of $3050. What does everyone think about that?

High on the install, but low on the insert price, so exactly the same as here. I'd do it. Enjoy it, I certainly love mine. :)
