Saw this online tonight. I had no idea this was already going on, but it is in Manitoba, CA. I wonder if the other provinces do it. Looks like you're exempt for one ton a year.

This was the Obummer suggested tax on coal if I recall.

Now being implemented in goofy CA .. soon to be suggested all over.

Keep an eye out for state / local legislation

Interesting that they charge more per ton for the cleaner burning forms of coal. But then, it's California. :baby:

Yeah, I thought that was odd too. Actually that list is from Canada.

Would it be because of using the less taxed in larger quantities like electric plant. Vs higher tax on home heating.

I'm not sure how much home heating coal is taxed, ... or at least not tax deductible on April 15th.

NYS does not charge tax on heating fuels, although some counties like Freetown Fred's do.

If you go to the grocery store in California the bread is just labeled “cancer”. Since everything there is known to cause it......

This tax is probably based on the amount of carbon in the fuel.

Canada, not California.

Imported from the USA most likely. BB is probably right about it being the carbon content.
