What is your option on the near and far future for coal coming out of PA? Here in NY we get our coal from PA. I've only been buring for 5 years and haven't seen any problems with getting rice coal but NY shut down one coal power planet already. From what I understand the coal I'm burning is kind of a byproduct of the bigger stuff. Maybe I'm wrong. I'm just hoping I can burn coal for another 15 years.

Even Bit plants are stating they plan to remain for at least another decade.

Guess I should try to stock up more. As long as I'm breathing I want to be burning coal! I started burning when Obama was in office and the prices were actually cheaper. Do you guys think with the Dems back in office and we all know know it will effect production, that we will see declining prices in the future?

The price of coal goes down when there is a slump in demand, and/or when the price of diesel goes down significantly. Since the new administration has been very clear about their intent to drive up the cost of fossil fuel, I would not expect the price of coal to come down.swyman wrote: ↑Mon. Unless your like the owner of the Somerset plant in Mass/RI and spend a few cool million on plant upgrades to meet the clean air act only to do this a couple of years later.freetown fred wrote: ↑Mon. Jan. 25, 2021 8:04 amEven Bit plants are stating they plan to remain for at least another decade.

Are any anthracite mines on federal land? Or should I say planned mines? The new executive order is preventing new mines from opening on fed lands, but existing ones can continue. If there is demand they will keep mining ant.
They (govt, car makers) are going to force electric cars onto us and shove windmills and solar into the ground from coast to coast to power the damned things. Im sure there will be a slow decline in coal mines, mostly bit, but its not going to disappear overnight.

I have a natural gas line right in my front yard. I am not hooked up to it! Even though the sales guy came at least 3 times. He told me i was making a mistake because of low introductory pricing and I only had to pay half the cost of the line piped into my house. For 2 years everyone that got it said it was cheap. Now this year. I’m hearing OMG my gas bill doubled-tripled! Needless to say. I’ll be on the coal “chute” for a long time!

I am going to be surrounded in 2 years by windmills, and a square mile of solar a mile from me this coming summer. NEVER would have happened without subsides. I was hoping it would just be solar but i guess not. So I may sound bitter about it, lol. I have a big bucket of smoky bit here and when they are downwind building them its going in the stove. Maybe part of a tire too. lol
dbs, in the long term you will be better off. Initial cost savings schemes usually backfire.

We just fought in my area to turn down an 1600+ acre solar "farm" that would have surrounded my house. I am in the middle of farm country and it's really rich ground but it sure has stirred a lot of problems with everyone living here. Main fight was property rights of the land owners but the property owners that the panels were going on lost....so far. The solar companies were offering $1000/acre per year deal, one of the land owners had over 900 of those so you could see his and everyone else's point of being fighting mad......it was a 35 year deal. I don't have the answers but personally don't think we have the infrastructure to support the energy required to charge everyone's cars, they are struggling in my area now because of the number of people growing hydroponic marijuana since it is legal in Michigan to do so last few years.

Well, in my opinion, PA should not EXPORT ANY of its coal-fired electricity generation to any other state without a 5:1 ratio.
So if PA pays $.05 /kwh, interstate should pay $.25 /kwh.
Let the coal haters learn WHO is actually in-charge in PA.
