Lehigh mules
Found this story in my Mining info archives last night. Mike Kovacs a mule driver at no.10 mine had just finished his shift as a mule driver inside the mine .Mike unhitched the mule from the 3 ton car .On the way to the elevator he sees a buddy cleaning the tracks from coal spills .This all takes place on the fourth level of the mine . Mike whoas, the mule drops the reins an proceeds to bullshoot with the buddy. Buddy leaves soon, Mike turns and The Mule Is Gone .Frantically Mike hurrys checking nearby tunnels .I'm going to be fired . The End of the story: The mule sensing End Of Shift Walked To The Elevator Got on Elevator Road Up To The Surface, then walked to The Stable unassisted. Who said Mules Were Dumb. Jack
