I have never burned anything but (nut) coal in my Harman. I may have a chance to pick up about 10 bags of Superior Pea coal (bagged myself) b4 for fall. What would be the best way to try it out? (Start the stove with 100% Pea coal & run if for a week or so??
or
Start it with nut but then just add Pea when reloading (100% pea)
or try a mix of nut & pea?
(from what I've read, the pea will burn a little cooler than nut, but slower for longer burns)

I would try burning Pea straight up, you won't need maximum heat in the fall anyway and it will give you a good feel for the superior coal burning characteristics.
