Lenig Coal Blend, Need Advice
I got a pretty good price from Lenig and there recomended trucker on 24 ton bulk del to Mass. The trucker said he would mix buck and rice in the hopper if I wanted. I have a Keystoker Kaa2. What blend will be the best for my boiler I was thinking 70% rice 30% buck? I called Ketstoker about burning buck and they said it was fine as long as I had no powervent, and I dont. I am nervous about straight buck after reading posts about hopper fires. Any info will be helpful Thanks Ed

If Keystoker said not to worry about buck don't worry about it as long as you have a good draft you will not have any
problem having the fire backing up into the hopper

My brother uses nothing but buck but I believe he has a ka-6.
Coal Berner,From what ive read I am already worried! I don't want to burn the house down while I am at church some sunday. I was looking for some advice from someone who blends the two sizes and what works best for them. The boiler is a Keystoker Kaa2. Thanks Ed

If Lenig is low on rice coal I would worry about the quality. If they get low on there own they will buy from other soucres which are junk coal and mix it with the good stuff. However you should be safe with buck as they don't seem to have problems with that size. If you could go and look thru what they gving you first and it has what looks to be pieces of broken bricks in it stay away. I have had some of the best I have ever burnt and some of the worst I ever burnt with almost 30% ash from lenig all in the same load. In other words if you go with lenig get at least a 50% buck mix.
