The Tunnel Ridge Ming Co. begins mining under Interstate 70 from

Pa to Wv....

My yard/field is 2 feet lower than it was years ago. Use to be level with the hard road, not no more. Mine subsidence .

https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=long+wall+mi ... &FORM=VIRE Pretty good video of long wall mining. Notice the jacks being pulled in to support the roof after the shear has removed the coal . Keep in mind the roof is caving in behind the jacks constantly, they hope, to keep the pressure of too much unsupported roof off the jacks. The very large areas mined, with no support left, cause a lot of subsidence.
