I didn't know this was going to happen, and I was very surprised when I came across this video.

It says that at noon on 3/15/2018 they set off the charges that brought this huge building down.
I only saw it once. I was coming from Mark's Supply in Shenandoah, down RT54 to Mahanoy City. After I passed under the "Coal Keeps The Lights On" bridge, I saw this giant hulk of a building on the left. I thought, "Darn! I should have brought the camera!".

Now I really wish I had brought the camera.

Now they can just peck away with those big hydraulic shears & haul it to the scrap yards. Sure ain't like the old days of hand torching from the top down.

Or have it fall on the crane,...like a former boss did with a two story commercial building we were taking down in a boat yard.

They have been parting and piecing at it for about 3-4 years. I drove past one day a few weeks ago and it was still standing, came back for another load a few days later and it was gone.

When we first began hauling coal from Blaschak, it was intact in all its entirety. I understood from some guys at Blaschak that there was a group that was trying to raise money to save it. Unfortunately reality set in first and now we have lost another important piece of PA anthracite history.
