That must have been a sight to behold! Is anything left standing today from that building Jack? Do you know roughly what year that photo might have been taken?
There was no doubt that you were in the coal regions when you came into Lansford an you saw this Massive Hulk of no. 6 breaker .Here it is 1929 almost new with icicles at the roof edge of the adjacent wash shanty . King Coal was in its glory .The behemoth ran 2 shifts producing 8000 tons of coal per shift .On upper right notice the Sheave wheels used to power the elevators .Also Boiler house on left .No Stokers here 2 men shoveled stove coal into the Huge Boilers .She was 201 feet high I do not have the other measurements .notice gondols they look like toy coal cars . A fellow I met who lived nearby said the Grinding mashing machinery lulled him to sleep as a lil boy .Raw coal went up the 400 foot plain an wonderfull clean anthracite exited the 3 large doors .Enjoy jack

Where was the plant location in regards to the present day number Nine building? Was the plant located slightly East of the mine and along the rail right of way I suppose?

Tyler the breaker was at the far end of Lansford so about 1.5 miles from n0. 9 mine an museum. Go east through Lansford and you will see a Patch of about 9 twin homes ironically called number 6. The patch is really called Andrewsville ..

Found it on the map Jack, thanks for that. Andrewsville Street does indeed ring up on Google Earth. I looked up a website that I go to very often...containing historical aerial photos. The oldest photo I could find from the area was 1969 and it was interesting for me to note that by then the breaker had already been razed.
Do you recall what year it was taken down?
