Any opinions on a price per ton when buying used rice coal and having to clean out of a basement?

I know “used rice coal” may not be the best term here, but you know what I mean.

I guess whatever it's worth for you to move it. Personally I wouldn't buy coal if I had to move it 2 or 3 times, not worth the time IMO.

If you drove to a dealer/coal yard & they loaded the coal onto your truck/trailer,what would your price/ton be ?
How much harder than that will it be to get the coal out of the basement ?
After doing all the extra work of getting it out of the basement, you will want to have spent lots less $$ than normal.

After working like that... you will only be happy if you truly scored a real good deal.

I had recieved 5 tons in the deal when I bought my boiler. There was a ton in bags that I took out but another 4 in the coal bin. I paid two south of the border gentelmen $100 and they had it out in about an hour and a half in the back of my truck.

In my opinion, basement mining is a lot of labor. Coal is cheap, if i'm going to go to the trouble of removing it from a basement, it better be free.

I did one yesterday, 3 1/2 tons. In the end worked out to same price as getting from mine directly, after paying my son and his friend to help. Good for them made money and I got 4 worms and crank handle for efm 520.

They learned a little about work and you got to spend time with them on a project which has value in itself.

If all that came at the same price or cheaper as buying from a coal yard it would be worth it to me.

Hauling coal out of a basement is as much work as splitting and stacking wood. But if you're strong and ambitious enuff, or have young ones that'll do it for pennies, and the coal is almost/or free, then I guess it'ld be worth the trouble. But having bagged coal on skids, loaded onto your truck or trailer, or having the option of bulk delivery is so much easier, and quicker. But once again, comes down to your savings, and level of ambition.

I guess my caveat would be if it were bagged... If it was bagged I would consider taking it. Bulk, not so much, big PITA. I gave a ton and a half of nut to my buddy just to get it out of my basement so I had room for my load of rice. I gave it away and had to help... Lol
