This is my first full heating season with the EFM. I bought 4 tons and am down to about 600 lbs. I will be running out soon. Due to where my coal bin feed is located its not practical to buy and load more coal this time of the year. The ground is just too soft to get my truck or trailer around there. If we have a week of hard freeze like a couple weeks ago then maybe. My new bin will hold 5 tons so next season I'll start out with 5 tons. But for now I'll be switching to oil for the rest of the season soon.

Here's a spreadsheet I built for keeping track of HDD's. Just copy the data from the spreadsheet that http://www.degreedays.net/ generates (weekly breakdown and your local station) paste and the rest is automatically calculated. If you use my spreadsheet erase only the data from the 1st 3 columns "Week starting, HDD,% Estimated" or the automatic calculations will be deleted.
Good Gawd CK - OIL !!!! I think we need a coal forum emergency bucket brigade to head your way!! Maybe somebody has a tow behind portable coal vac powerful enough to get it from the trailer around the house and into the bin!coalkirk wrote: ↑Tue. I am burning about the normal amount for a normal winter. The last two winters have been abnormally warm so we were spoiled. I expect to go through about 5 ton.

I suspect that i may have burned more so far this season....
But i don't know for sure...
I do know for sure that i am keeping warm so far this cold winter season & i intend to keep burning coal & keeping warm.
My coal supply on hand is more than enough to keep burning as much as is needed to keep on keeping warm until outside temps get warm.

Casters my a$$. I got a 74ci Harley motor on it. Works well for getting to the stove & outside door. Gotta figure something to get me that last 30ft. to the truck!

Got an extra ton in december after seeing some of these forecasts for multi week deep freeze ahead ,but probably wont need all of it. For some reason the colder it gets outside, the warmer we like it inside. This was the first year ever we kept a steady 78-80. Top floor insulation is inadequate 6 inches or less, certainly no snow or ice will last on our roof, could probably see the heat signature from space.
