I know, I know. The last time I switched to oil I was stripped of my forum moderator status. This time I may be drummed out altogether! It won't happen next year.

Sometimes you read something and it hits you right between the eyes. Ok you have convinced me. I have a business where my schedule can change suddenly without notice. That happened this morning. Suddenly I am off today and it’s colder than a witches tit in a brass cup so off for coal I go. The ground is hard enough for me not to sink in I think. Update later.

Well I have to drive across my lawn to get to the coal bin window. Not an ideal setup but you have to play the hand you are dealt. If I built this house with a coal bin in mind things would be different. I don't want to dump coal ash and stone on my lawn. :no1: Anyway the coal gods were with me and although I lost a nice job this morning, it did free up my morning. Ground was rock hard (12* last night) and there is now 1420 lbs. of new Lehigh rice in my bin. With what I had left that should be enough to get me through until the end of the heating season.

Hey CK..... You Da Man!!!

I hope the coal forum notification system is better than Hawaii's and Hambden Bob can recall the 'copters! 8-)

Like you I took advantage of the frozen ground this morning to top off the bin. I wanted to do it this past weekend but found a couple spots that were too soft and also didn't want to tear up the ground.

With normal winter temps this bin full should last through Feb.

More in the pole barn if I need it....

That's nice having the loader bucket on your tractor! Also really nice to have a fall back supply in your pole barn. I WILL have 5+ tons in my bin for next season. Don't want to have to do this again. While I'm no stranger to the shovel, I prefer to avoid it! Next season will be shovel free.

I hear you CK but iv got to fill those tire marks with something.I have the same situation. Top soil will just sink again. Grass grows right through the ash and 1-B and if you ever have to drive across it again its a lot stronger. Cant always time deliveries far from rain days.
