Hmmmmmm ..... I'm going to start stockpiling my ash, hopefully the scandium didn't burn up.

The rare earth elements are found in highest concentration in the refuse and ash,not the coal itself.Burning the coal may therefore be the first step in the process of separation of REEs.
Other interesting concepts are that the REEs are in high concentration in the mine pools and in their discharge. The mine water can possibly be processed to remove the rare earths,and then the process water treated and discharged as clean water.
Mine water would be reduced as a source of pollution,another big environmental win for the coal industry.Treating mine refuse and water discharge may prove more lucrative than mining the coal.Cheaper coal as a result?Maybe someday.

Coal ash worth money ? I hope my tax assessor doesn't find out about my driveway and increase my property values.

I wonder how much these clinkers are worth ?
