Monoflow with mixed radiators

It's still winds as h*ll so I'm working on indoor stuff.

This week my son and I installed a big old cast radiator in the main room of my house. It's 2' x 4' and a thick one compaired to
most that i have looked at.

I have an old monoflow system and really did'nt know how this would work out. The piping went well, even though we drained
the system one morning to do cut-in and it was 5 deg out.

Cast iron puts out heat sorta like an old wood stove . I'm a lineman by trade. Only know a bit about heating so this is
fun for me. Try different stuff and see how it works. I was surprised that 1/2'' copper monoflow ''t'' could pull this much heat.

Anyway, stay warm. this can't last too much longer.

Dave, what type of radiation is on the rest of the loop?

Hi Rob, The whole house was fin base board. I took it out of 3 rooms years ago to replace the floors with wide board oak. But thats when I had a wood stove so it worked. Now all the heat is in the boiler, just wanted a good way to use all that energy up in the three rooms that did'nt have any radiation. I was suprised it worked so well.

It will work fine when there is a lot of circulation. When the weather warms up, the fin to will put out heat long before the cast iron and cause uneven heating.

My junk yard guys will be happy then . I'll have to find a few more cast radiators and replace the fin units too.
