That's so pretty, all factory bagged so you don't get dust on the window treatments!

Mine gets delivered in a dump truck by a guy with a bad attitude . . . just sayin'.

:)

Happy 2018!

Ah, ya'll haven't lived the dream until you've blown your stack off the wall at 12:30 AM with the wife shouting orders in the background and frantically opening the windows in sub-zero windy weather while corralling the pets outside.

. . . good times!

I want to hear about this 'secret weapon' when it goes live.

Still have both my Harmon's burning sub-bit, took down the decrepit masonry chimney and ran a 28' dual stack triple wall Metalbestos system on the old footing, enclosed with the cedar siding I redid the house with. The chimney was unlined and venting a propane insert & fuel oil boiler, so the mortar was dust. Was going to rebuild it, but with earthquake activity up here, I decided it wasn't worth the risk. The chimney had already toppled once back in the '64 earthquake. With as much as I burn, it just wasn't worth it.

Use an MPD and Baro on the stoves to adjust for coal quality and outside weather conditions - only way I can control the burn, got a lot of methane in my stuff.

These forums and the stoves have seen us through our 1st 5 winters here when we had no heating system. A lot of work, but the savings made it worth it while doing renovation. The home's a Cape Cod 1.5 story with a walkout basement.

The TLC is on the 1st floor and heats the two levels of the house, with a Magic Heat reclaimer on the stack. The 250 lives in the basement and is a beast, gets fired when temps drop below 15 degrees when the TLC can't keep-up.

one of the things i remember most of my grand-dad was his constant " everything costs somethin' boy, you gonna pay for it now or later but, you will pay for it all one way or another"

while i would dearly love to watch Alaska outside my window, i have to admit i just don't want to fight that hard to keep it out of the house.
