I think it was about 9 this morning here. Also SW Virginia. My furnace is a bit oversized, so it’s actually kind of nice to use in these temperatures. Can open it up a bit. Sure could tell that draft was strong last night. I’m burning large lump bit, I think from WV, though it doesn’t bridge too bad.

This morning was pretty rough. -12 with strong winds. I think the main zone in my house ran constantly until lunch time.

0 is the lowest we've had here in the last few days. Probably 50+ lbs. per day in the Mark II which is in the living room. Keeps the living rm. and kitchen dining area around 68-70 deg. With the wind when I get up in the morning I run the oil fired hot water for a couple hours because my baseboard pipes run along the sill in the cellar. Don't want any frozen pipes. Been there done that many many years ago in my old wood burning days.

It's actually above freezing here today but that's not going to last very long.

Got down to 6* last night here in the southern tropics of the Peoples Republic of Maryland. The stoker ran 8.5 out of the 9 overnight hours when I checked the clock this morning keeping the house at 68* in the LR and about 5* cooler in the back bedrooms.

Hour meter on the stoker motor. It feeds 10 lbs of rice coal per hour of run time. I checked it once with a scale and found it to be accurate.

Weve had cold spells before but this one is about 10 days before it crawls above freezing. K-2 is performing nicely in this 3 story 3000sq ft 100 yr old barn. about 75 1st floor 77-78 main floor and 76-77 bedrooms. When it get this cold i bump the water temp up to about 190 , lets the baseboard and the radiators put out more heat.

This would not work for me as i change feeds rates too often ,each change in feed rate would change the #s per hour burned. I use lower feed rates when the weather moderates and the stove spends s lot of time idling.
