Did I do one of these before? lol I don't remember :) I'm just curious to see what amount of electricity most people use and how much they are charged per kilowatt. The total cost per kilowatt that you pay including delivery, supply, tax and everything else they throw on your bill. So for example, my total bill for last month was $182.16 and I used 1279 Kilowatts. $182.16 divided by 1279 KW = 14.24 cents per kilowatt

To find your average, keep it simple and pick your highest and lowest months, add them together and divide by 2 or just take an edgammacated guess. My highest KW usage was in July with 1512 KWs, and my lowest was in April with 1040 KWs an average being 1279 KWs per month roughly...

Feel free to elaborate if your coal appliance helps you save electric or add cost to your electric bill. For example in July I'm running the pool pump and hot tub frequently and of course the coal fire isn't lit. In April the coal fire preheats the DHW and keeps the hot tub warm while the blowers on the furnace also are not running full time since the weather is warming up. ;)

Don't be afraid to share savvy ways to trim your electric bill. For example at my house, if one of the kids are in the shower I'll be standing at the bathroom door after 10 minutes demanding they shut the water off

Enjoy, keep it fun!

Wow that seems extremely low. What do you attribute that to?

Ya but could u imagine if u lived in the city rob how cheap it would be!

This is my point to my question to him, there’s no way he’s paying the 12-15 cents per KW like we are.
Mine is 12.943/kwh

I haven’t recieved any bills yet in this new house, so it will be a while before I can input my monthly usages on here.

But I have 1250 KW on my meter and my service was turned on in July, we moved in September 23.

So that’s 2 months of usage living here, and all the electricity for the construction of everything.

The whole house is all LED, brand new appliances. Ran my electric water hot for about the first month, and the rest the coal boiler has been running heating my water.

Here is the last 12 months for my house. Some of the months are estimates, so it doesn't always track quite right.

We have a full size fridge and separate stand-up freezer that run year round, also have a dorm-size fridge and a beverage fridge that run year-round. We bring on an extra fridge in the garage for about 7 months of the year, and also a Kegerator.

House and workshop are air conditioned in the summer, and we run a pool pump about 12 hours per day from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Clothes dryer is electric and runs nearly every day. Work shop gets kept at 45 with electric heat, it is not very big but it definitely increased the bill when I started heating it.

Most appliances are fairly new, but it seems like every time I upgraded one we added something else to the load.

oh yeah...I have LED bulbs in almost every fixture.

That is a very interesting graph Rob! Thank you for sharing. I think you do well for everything you have using electric.

The price per Kw on your graph. Is that the total bill divided by Kws? Or just the supply or delivery charge?

Oh, I meant your kilowatt usage. Less than 300 kilowatts in a month is quite quite frugal!

Last month our kw usage was 258, that is normal for us. I am very aware to turn lights off when not in the room and generally not wasting electricity. Last winter heating with electric our usage was over 3000 every month, and that at 58-60* in the house. We almost froze to death, and per 25 cents per kw total, with fees and all.
This winter with my Surdiac chaging along, hopefully it’ll be warm and with electric bill reasonable, not that it will be reasonable in CT !

Lightning, You are quite right!
Last winter I was literally going broke trying to pay Ct power company’s bills.
I don’t know who came up with all electric houses in the first place...
