Yes Rob. If kept dry one bag should last years. Especially if you maintain your membership in the 1 match club!

Does it work well enough to have to go to neighbor and borrow a cup of wood pellets or can I use a bunch of little twigs cut up and compressed? borrowing wood pellets is , well a little humiliating

Was thinking about wood pellets the other day when I had to light an EFM without my usual dose of charcoal, this would be the only thing pellets are good for. At half the BTUs as anthracite, those pellet stoves are the greatest ripoff there is to the ill-informed oil saving individual.
At $230.00 per ton, how much does one bag average cost? I know about the magnesium starter bags but I’m a cheapskate at times and charcoal and pine cones are dirt cheap and free.
I like your contraption CK! I thought a few times of building something similar out of a circular piece of expanded steel mesh just to help hold everything on the pot.

Haha!
I told brother Tadd yesterday when we were out on a delivery that I thought I would buy a bag of wood pellets. He looked at me like I fell right off a big white star.
It was the most profane silence I have ever witnessed so I had to explain quickly.

New old stock.
I've made it 7 years on a bag of charcoal used for lighting the EFM, should be able to get at least that much out of the pellets if they don't turn to dust.

Will there be Coal Rat T-shirts available? That would be the nearest thing I could afford. I'd wear it with pride, even though I've been a kindling and cardboard guy for 40 years.

Yes the rats have been socializing more and some have developed a bit of a drinking problem.

Wait what happened , I thought you sold your EFM and bought a travel bus. Was that just a gag? Will the RAT be available in stores in time for Christmas, or mail order only?
