Chimneys don't lose power/break down in the middle of the night.

If by gravity fed stove what was actually meant was a hand fed (hand fired) stove with gravity hopper, then franco b is correct, and you will not be able to power vent your stove. It will need to be connected to a chimney.

And inspected by a knowledgeable person is not a person whom would want to quickly sell and install a chimney liner for you.$$$

I'm overwhelmed with all of your insights and suggestions. I really am. You all exceeded my expectations with knowledgeable input. And it's valuably grateful.Thank you! I'm going to have my existing chimney surveyed and proceed there after. You all will see firsthand my final setup.....soon. -Murph

??? I have seen outdoor wood boilers ... any such for coal?

look for any intrusion into a closet on the second floor, my chimney is in the center of the house comes up from the basement as evidenced by an extra square box chase on the wall between the dining and living rooms.

on the second floor i found the same chase in the back end of the closet in my bed room and sure enough it went straight on up thru the attic and thru the roof.

some one just took the top off yours when it wasn't being used to vent anything anymore and closed the roof up.
