Had to shut er down again today ,just too hot in the house, should be able to light er up in a day or 2 when the temps go back down at night. Only takes 2 minutes to start her up again.

I shut er down this morning too. Doesn't look like the temps are dropping again until next Wednesday. That's fine with me. Less coal to burn through. I probably burnt five or six buckets of coal already.

Will be fired up today. 30s tonight and the rest of the week overnight. So probably let it burn till spring this time. Have to inspect the grate before i start it though. Coal sliding on an angle. Might be some blocked air holes or some slag stuck to it.

Wow K man, you're farther south than here, and highs only in the 30s?! Mother nature sure can be pretty unpredictable.

But your closer to the coast so may be milder there. My stoker is actually off right now, its 52 outside ,house is warm ,its been unseasonably warm here for awhile so im ready for some frost on the pumpkin. High most of the week are 45 to 50 lows around 30 . takes a turn down on fridayand saturday, cold front moving in ,you will get it after us. Ill be firing up tonight 34 by morning!
Nothing a few pounds of coal and a few cold beers(dogfish 8.5%) cant handle. :o

After checking the local forecast for the week, I decided to light up today. I had planned to wait until about Thanksgiving. Looks like lows in the 30's every night, here, then 20's Friday and Sat. night. I'm going bagged this year but only have a bit more than a ton right now. I never got an outside coal bin built this year. Heating oil prices are going through the roof, daily.

Yep, SA screwing us up again. Somehow I remember that story from a while ago. I was getting lazy in the shoulder season and let loose a little oil heat ... No more. I am done with that one and it's all coal from here on out.

Theoretically, I'll be burning (on average) 42.6 lbs. of coal per day this week. And topping 50 lbs. per day on Friday and Saturday.
