It doesn't hurt to put a tank worth through the oil monster and make sure things still work well, but you are right - it is time to switch over. My dad just got a delivery, $2.20/gallon for No. 2.coalnewbie wrote: ↑Tue. Nov. 07, 2017 4:19 amYep, SA screwing us up again. Somehow I remember that story from a while ago. I was getting lazy in the shoulder season and let loose a little oil heat ... No more. I am done with that one and it's all coal from here on out.
Have Any of You Northern Participants Been Burning Yet?

Got a few hundred gallons of oil on backup but i cant bring myself to burn it. I buy it when it gets cheap. Guess it will have to wait for me to go on vacation ,when im not around to take care of the stoker to get used.coalnewbie wrote: ↑Tue. Nov. 07, 2017 4:19 amYep, SA screwing us up again. A couple yrs back, I was in a fck all physical situation--some brothers here on the FORUM got together & topped off my 275 gall. tank (Kero mix) --something I'll never forget-- Any-who--still got 2/3 tank left & as Rob stated--I run the oil beast on occasion during the cuff months just so she'll remember why she's here. I've been burning the old HITZER since early Sept. having learned through hit & miss plus much info acquired here on the FORUM how to idle her down even in the 80* days--yep--sometimes window stats. I didn't realize there would be any prizes for who can go longest before lighting up. At 72 I just love the tears out of 70-72* in this 250 yr. old farmhouse.

I think it will be uneventful as you watch the 260 loaf along. Would take 3 of your houses to really make it work.
The first 260 I ever saw was heating a 10,000 sq ft apartment building.

I think someone on here said something about 209,000? It’s in the eshland thread.
Pacowy says there 209,000 output.
When we use dhw, and the upstairs and downstairs is calling for heat, it deff puts a good load on it, but yes I have a lot of reserve! Which will be good for when I build the shop!

Allowing for a bit more than 80% peak operating efficiency, 209,000 BTUH must be very close to the real output for the AA and AHS 260 boilers. It would heat 4-1/2 homes the size of mine.hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Tue. Nov. 07, 2017 12:43 pmI think someone on here said something about 209,000? It’s in the eshland thread.
