It is deff a big heat monster at full out run! But for such a big capability, it idles very very well!

Well Fred, maybe you didn't get the "Fickle Finger of Fate", award, but I think you'll get the nodd from all here, if you've been sweating it out with the old Hitzer for that long. After all these years, I'll bet you've "almost" got a handle on it. Good job.freetown fred wrote: ↑Tue. I've been burning the old HITZER since early Sept. having learned through hit & miss plus much info acquired here on the FORUM how to idle her down even in the 80* days--yep--sometimes window stats. I didn't realize there would be any prizes for who can go longest before lighting up. At 72 I just love the tears out of 70-72* in this 250 yr. old farmhouse.

The AA Anthratube design was indeed well thought out. Likely the most purely scientific design effort in all of coal boiler history. Penn State's engineering department had a big hand in it.hotblast1357 wrote: ↑Tue. Nov. 07, 2017 3:19 pmIt is deff a big heat monster at full out run! Absolutely Larry, the construction of these units and the passages and design are just astonishing!

This past Tuesday afternoon we lit the boiler. Would have done it sooner but had some delays getting things ready this year.
We are about 48hrs burning this season. Really missed the unlimited hot water and WARM rooms. Our backup propane ventless heaters will keep us from freezing, but still cold with them.
Now we are traveling a few days, hoping to get 3.5 days out of our ash bucket

I finally lit up the Gold Marc box stove in the basement. 18 degrees this morning and highs in the 30's, looks like it's here to stay. I can now cure the fire pot for the Sparkle and warm the house at the same time

Lit up the Keystoker90 last nite. I still suck at lighting a stoker. Lit hand fed for 27 years with far more success.

Lots of tips on lighting a stoker here on coalpail. Iv got it down to under a minute. Hand fed has a much bigger access door, makes it much easier.2001Sierra wrote: ↑Fri. Well, I was planning to go hunting this afternoon. But this cold weather got me motivated to get the Pocono ready & fired up instead. After I got it going I looked at the outside thermometer.... 10* at 2:45 in the afternoon!
