Go some new glass .. old one pitted up really bad.
I'll be running the stove w/o a hopper next season .. still with anthracite, just to see how it goes.
So 2 sets of gaskets to replace,
Never changed gaskets before...how much cement is normally applied ? I'm thinking like a 1/4"

Use a short piece to test. You want enough so it seals against the whole contact patch without ozzing out and making a big mess. Probably best to use a spoon like utensil to smear it in the groove and make sure everything is covered and then mash it in.

or you could use waterglass to seal the deal...
Nice high temp adhesive that does not leave a bunch of crap behind to chip out...
When you have to redo the gasket in the future...
