Learned a trick on this forum to keep a bulb shining in the combustion chamber during shutdown to promote warmth, druve away humidity and keep away rot/rust.

Now that incandescent bulbs are going away or at least going to be much harder to find, what do all of you do during a summer shutdown?

I cant exactly put an LED or CFL bulb inside the stove and hope to achieve the same result... Thanks for any advice.

typcially the CFL or LED do not get warm enough, some might, but incandescent bulb generate more heat. A lot of places still sell them, just stock up on a pack of 4 or so. :)

Just go to wal-mart and buy halogen bulbs (they still make heat) or rough service bulbs are still incandescent.

I just use a small heat lamp for reptiles from the pet store. Keeps the insides dry and warm. It also looks nice all summer.

Nice display, I love it! You could throw a snake or two in there for entertainment value when people open the door :)

The math gurus say running bulbs 24/7 is much money...to that I say use a thermostatic ceramic heater or equal. No need for 24/7...only necessary to maintain a constant temp...save w/ a thermostat cycling power.

P.S. Many peeps now have them gun safes and the heat requirement is the same as for our stoves and stuff... the "Golden Rod" or equal sure are nice for doing the task! :)

Golden rods work great! Have had them in my gun safes for many years without an issue or outage.
