I was wondering to expect cost wise for a chimney sweep to clean and inspect my chimney. I don't have anything on it yet, and I have no idea of the condition internally. I thought it would be a good idea to have it checked before I buy a stove and find I have a problem with the chimney. I am in the Harrisburg area if anyone has any recommendations.

Is the chimney masonry? If so how old is it? Does it have a terra cotta flue? Just one, or two or? Do you have a woodstove connected to it?
If it is masonry with a TA tile liner and you had gas/oil in it, probably not. You can check it yourself with a mirror and a strong flashlight. If it has a kick in it you will have to go up top too. You want it clean of creosote (only from wood), no broken tiles falling out and no rats/squirrels/raccoons/birds/and or small children in it.
Is there something on the chimney now?
