To date I have burned only 74.6% of what I burned up to this juncture last year, when considering home heating only, and excluding coal burned for the homes DHW heating from my data for both years.
How does this compare to your consumption figures?

so far, i'm still burning at very low idle, 67% of last yrs. use.
interesting #'s but really useless for anything other than pocket book savings since in my case vastly diff. HDD's, diff. stove, etc.

The only 'figure' I can contribute is the size and shape of the remaining coal pile! Like my waistline, it is bigger than last year. Guestimating I used 3 tons from that pile so far. Most years I will use about 4 ton for the house. I don't think I will need to take any more from that pile, what remains in the bin by the basement should last the rest of the year.
Since I don't load from buckets or bags but vacuum in from the bin to the hopper I can't contribute a lb's used for the house.
Maybe next year I'll have an hour meter or clock tied to the house stoker and can give a better estimate.

It's hard to say. I know I've used less for sure. I bought 6 ton of Buck this year. See what's left come spring.

My son is still burning but indicates he will use about 50% of what I considered normal. It has been an easy winter in Washington County, Maine.

I would have to wait until next years burning season to really know as we started burning coal only
in January and with the hiccups/steam event/wiring and control issues we had a lot of un burned coal
that we reclaimed and are screening out.
I will be unbundling and counting bags as we burned both nut and firewood until the change over
in early January.
SO far so good on the KAA-4-1 boiler front.

I'm only about 10 - 15% behind where I usually am at this time, on coal used. Definitely a milder Winter than the past two. I did run harder this season than I have in the past. I had better quality, longer burning coal than I have in the past few years or I might have been at my usual level. I've got about 1500 lbs. left and expect to have just a little left at mid April shut down. Heating oil is still on it's way up in price, but I guess it will settle down eventually.

2014/15 we burned about 100 gallons of propane and just over 2 1/2 tons of rice coal.
This last winter 15/16 was much different. I started the coal furnace in November and ran it for about 10 days, shut down due to the warm weather.
Ran off the propane system until near the end of December. Back to coal until the beginning of March and shutdown again. Only burned about 1 1/4 ton this year. We used bagged coal so it is easy to see what is left from the 2 tons purchased last fall.

Every time I think of shutting down I see a cold spell coming, but I havent burnt 3 tons yet, starting Nov 11th. Probably 80% compared to last year as few severe cold spells.

Last winter I burned about 5.5 tons from mid October until around the first of May. To date, I have burned 3.5 tons. Same stoves, no changes, other than the weather. So that's about 64% of last year's consumption. Probably will be a out 70% by the time I shut down. Right now, I'm burning about 20lbs./day.
