Pictures of Your Stove
Just installed my Leisure Line Hearth Stoker Stove in my 200 year old farm house.
Oil cost me $3300.00 last year and this year would have been over $3750.00. For that price I got a stove and two years worth of coal.
After the first few days of use I'm still playing with temps and settings.
So far I'm using about 30 to 35lbs of coal a day. temps are 32/50 outside

HI ALL,
I FINALLY GOT THE STOVE PIPE I NEEDED ON FRIDAY AFTERNOON AND WAS ABLE TO GET MY NEW HITZER 50-93 UP AND RUNNING. I REALLY LIKE IT! I WAS SOMEWHAT WORRIED ABOUT DRAFT, BUT SO FAR IT IS BURNING VERY WELL. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY TROUBLE STARTING IT JUST TAKES A LITTLE LONGER THAN WOOD.

Dave, the stove must not be burning, the four cats aren't in the room soaking up the heat as in your previous photos!

This is my second year heating my small ranch house with my Keystoker Comfortaire GT and I love it. It is so much better than the old Vermont Castings wood stove I had for the previous 11 years. No more going out in the cold, rain, and snow to get wood. I just set the thermostat, switch the ash pan once a day, and dump a bucket of coal in from the bin in my garage. It kept my house nice and warm last year for only $400 of coal!

Stove was in the house when we bought it in 1995. The house was built in 1987. Have burned wood on occasion but this year it's strictly coal. Thorough cleaning and repaint. Damn there was ash in every nook and cranny! I checked out the Hitzer and it was amazing how similiar in design they are. I have original book that came with stove if anybody would like to see it I'll be happy to make a copy and send it along to you. Stay warm and wish me luck.

I am just getting into coal. We will be in our house one year Dec 2006. My father in law won this burner at an auction and only paid $75, he is now burning with another second hand burner that burns wood primarily. I am orginally from the Scranton, PA area (Archbald) and we burnt coal when I was growing up. Burning coal is in my blood.
The burner is a Locke Stove Company Model 400C (Warm Mornings) from around 1950, the same time our house was built so they go together quite nicely. This picture was taken prior to me putting a proper collector on the natural gas furnace, and 8 x 14 duct instead of 6 inch round down the main trunk. The next step is to bend up a collector for the coal burner, wire some fans, and tie it into the new duct work.
I'm going to post my coal bin too.

Sterling, I used to have a customer that had one that looked very much like that one in perfect condition. I swear it looked brand new, anyhow she was very old and got sick and by the time she got back to the house it was covered in rust unfortunately. Apparently her house was very damp or the roof was leaking... what a shame that was.
