It heats my house and man cave very nicely! Its 110K BTU....I haven't touched 30% of its capacity yet with temps down to 15° so far this winter.

The house was built in the 60s we were fortunate enough to get it after some work had been done to it, which included a gut of the basement so we could design our own thing.

Got me a project. Red cross oak dubble heater. Complete far as i can tell. Not in pic is the finial.
Ill start pulling it apart this week end. Gonna be to cold to be outside.
Nickle has seen its better days, but both barrels are sound from what i can tell. Stove is partially apart so could inspect good. Also gonna need mica, has sheetmetal in it now.
When operational it will reside in livin room and the ugly box (anthramax) will live in basement

Do you have a place to get the nickel plating re-done?
I have a stove that I want to restore & also need to get the nickel plating renewed.

No prismatic grates. Dump grate. Just guessin the fire pot is 12 inches acroos an 9 or 10 deep. By looks im guessin 35-40 lbs maybe more.
Gave the ash pit n fire pot a brake down n reseal and a quick smear seal on topside. Have a doirlatch to fix then hoping to hook it up in basement for when needed to replace the worn out rite-burn.

I burn this Brunco insert in the spring and fall it does a pretty good job heating my split level ranch approximately 3000sqft. I shake it down and top it off every 12 hrs
When it gets colder, I let it go out and fire up this DS Kozy King 400. Its a bit over sized so the house gets to warm in the spring and fall. It can easily go 24 hrs between fixing but I usually tend to it every 12.
I was having problems with puff back so I added this green button that I salvaged from a machine that was being scrapped at work. Its wired to a timing relay that will turn the combustion fan on for 5 minutes- joeq

Hey, welcome aboard. I like your way of thinking. Really like your insert. My mothers house has a fireplace, but I think at 89 yrs young, she shouldn't be playing with fire. But I always wanted to see an insert in it.
Nice furnace you got there too. You should go to the lobby, introduce yourself, and tell us your story.

Hi all. Figured I’d post a couple pictures.
The Gibraltar is installed on the basement level in our game room. I just finished installing the stone on the walls behind it a few weeks ago, and I’m really enjoying relaxing next to it.
I bought this Gibraltar last year when I was in the market for a wood burner, not knowing a thing about stoves, green as can be, and thinking it was a wood burning stove. After getting it home, finding out it was designed for coal, and burning up all our wood before January, I bought a bunch of bagged anthracite and never looked back. Got lucky on that one.
Enjoyed the coal heat so much, this October I installed a Hitzer 983 for our fireplace upstairs in our family room. I’m still trying to learn the “in’s and out’s” of this thing, but I’m getting there. This thing can really put out some heat.
So far we are not running the heat pump at all. These two stoves are heating three levels and roughly 3500-4000 sqft. I’m impressed. Also, I’m glad I stumbled upon this website. Lots of great info here. Thanks to all for making what it is.
My one question is, are the fans/blowers like the ones in my 983 supposed to be left on 24/7 all winter? I’m curious what others are doing when it comes to these fans.
