Which Coal to Burn in Old Stove

- Coal Size/Type: rice,stove,nut
Which size coal should I burn in my 1897 Quick Time coal parlor stove? Its a base burner.Susquehanna coal only has chestnut now $170 a ton.My stove has a 15" round firebox. Thanks

If it were me, I'd do a Nut/Stove mix. I get bulk like that. Bags??? To much aggravation.

Ok Fred ,yes, but the breaker doesnt have stove.Any body know of one that has stove bulk?

Get used to it with nut before you go playing with stove.

Stove can be some big rocks to keep lit.

These old stoves tend to like stove coal. But nut should be OK in your stove. Don't be afraid to try stove size if you get a chance. I've never had any issue running stove in my #6. Stove coal responds well to changes you may wish to make. I'd never go back to anything other than stove size. I've tried nut, pea and various mixes. Stove wins hands down, in my stove anyway.
