probably will tonight, first i'm going to try some hand work with "semi-chrome" and see if it not as deep as I think.

judging from the work member Paned has been showing ( his acorn looked way worse than this ) I might get lucky.

Paned did a real nice job on the Acorn and I'm glad you brought that up. He posted a link to a great YouTube video from Mill Lake Finishing. I talked to Brian Spandl a few weeks ago and as soon as my parts come back from Tomahawk for the Home Works #25, I'm fitting and shipping them out to him for plating.

He was not aware of NEPA Crossroads so obviously I recommended he join. He does remarkable work and some of it can be seen on the Antique Stove Collectors Facebook page.

Great idea tryin the semi chrome polish, it only takes a few small dabs.......... like Brylcreem.

I have the same tube for over 10 years.

Well, I gave both the nickel and the high temp powder a very unscientific 48 hour heat test.

OST has been mild, and my son borrowed my IR thermometer so only the big guy up above knows how hot they got in there. ........ But they did pass.

i tried the simichrome, way to fine for the issue at hand.

also tried a wheel and some white rouge, made some progress but still too fine. going to have to get some more wheels and a bar of black, brown then use the white and some red then go back to the simichrome.

the problem is that hot ash was allowed to fall and sit in spots on the plating. I got the discoloration mostly out of one area but the ghost outline is still there and visible from certain angles, from others you don't even see it.

i'll live with what ever I can get by polishing, it don't mean enough to me to get the whole set redone over it o,r go for a "poor mans nickle " job, I really liked that look.
