I went through 1,657 lbs. for March this year, with 1,062 HDD's. Last year it was 1,465 lbs burned for 977 HDD's.

1960 lbs this March. 1240 last March.

I went threw 2200 lbs with my chappee and still burning

I used 1505 lbs for 1122 HDD in March 2014 and for March 2013 was 1364 lbs I can't find the HDDs but I would guess to be around 1000 or so. Keepaeyeonit

I must be misreading the question. Are we talking the"entire" winter, "up-til" march, or just the month of March? Not sure how big your houses are, but are you saying it took almost a ton of coal for just the month of March? I used a ton from Dec. to Feb. In March alone, maybe 800#s, but not an accurate assessment.

Only the month of March is being considered. I used roughly 1,517 lbs. to heat the home itself in March, and roughly 140 lbs. to heat the homes domestic hot water in March. The combination of the two equals 1,657 lbs.

With the hand fed I use a 40 lb. bag a day some days more some less and it works out to 1240 lbs. Heating degree days for March up here was 1377 by weather underground using a base temp as 65*, using a base of 70* would bring it to 1532 degree days!

0 lbs this year. Next year will be a different story.

1653lbs. for DHW and heat. 1189 HDD.

I'm waiting for the big question soon, as too how much for the whole year as Im about ready to let it burn out for the year, maybe next week, except for a few fires with the Chubby. The heat degree days I havent even tried to figure out yet and Im scared too. I'm on day 179 in a row without a 70 degree day here, lol.

From Feb 8th to now, I burned 4klbs. Two full tons in two months.

Now there is man who measures like I do. As Freddy has said over other things.... it is what it is. I do have some qualitative observations. If anybody tells me it's globull warming they will get my coal shovel around their ear.

Pierre my friend that is just about what we used for March as well. 640 lbs here for the proto Chubby and the Crawford at times. About 150/175 lbs more than last year. This "Global Warming" is a bitch on coal usage.
