I thought Phil was taking the year off and we had to wait until Manning broke from the huddle on his first series. If he yelled OMAHA once then 2 more weeks of winter and if he yelled OMAHA twice it meant 4 more weeks of winter and if he yelled OMAHA three times it meant 6 more weeks of winter. :)

Was there really any question that we were getting an extended winter this year??!!??

I hope it goes down to 0 and stays there for the rest of the month. :) Highest sustained activity on the forum over the past 2 weeks to date.

When I was delivering it was good business too but that came at the price of being a royal PITA to deliver. Never got cold though, be sweating if anything.

The fuel oil/propain suppliers will also love the cold weather.

Speaking from experience,.....super cold weather may eventually be good for the bottom line but at the time, hauling and delivering product really is a PIA! All the customers that owe you money come out of the woodwork with out of oil calls and sob stories. What are you going to do, let them freeze? I'd deliver $100.00 worth and hope they pay their bills. Of course, back then, that would be over 100 gallons. Now that would be 25 gallons

I didn;t know you delivered oil Carbon, I have a coal truck for sale. Includes a 1 week crash course in coal delivery. :)

Honestly I never had much trouble collecting, in about 6 years I had 3 bounced checks and two of them I believe were accidents because they rectified the situation immediately. I only got burned on the one check and that guy was in jail. I tried and work with them once they were established customer and offered credit with minimal interest charges. Worked out for me because I'd only have to go to the house once. Full loads = Big bucks.

Richard: years ago I ran my in laws family heating and fuel oil company. I had to wear many hats. The company has since gone the way of many small oil companies. Get big or get out took its toll. It was no longer profitable. If I was still in the business, I probably wouldn't be burning coal. Kinda free fuel oil was a perk. Coal it is now! Woo Hoo!

I'm Growing Fur All Over My Body.....Too Much Information,I Know! I feel like I'm stuck in some Evolution to the Cold Treadmill. I remember the Actor,Don Knotts(Better known as Barney Fife from the Andy Griffith Show) made a Movie called "Mr. Limpett" where he wished he was a Fish, and then morphed into one. I'm starting to feel like I'm Morphing into a Damned Wookie from Star Wars! Believe it or not,I can do 6 more weeks of this stuff standing on my Head. I think what the Little Furry Bastard isn't telling me is that with us sitting on top of that Giant Ice Cube known as Lake Erie,we've got atleast 8 more weeks or better of this Malaise before I see a Crocus popping up through the Snow! See me in August when I'm crying about 100* plus heat and 90% Humidity! :bang:

Phill can take a hike back down his hole for all I care. We were just looking out at the back yard and there was a huge flock of Robins. Not to mention the Pileated woodpecker paid a visit at the same time.
