HAHAHA nice, I must say the MRS was 100% against the entire thought of a coal stove. Then I said F it and bought it. She flipped then I fired it and lemme tell ya... we now have our 2nd child

So that is how we have 3 kids under 15 months...
All human...
That DS Machine was working the late shift...
If I added our adopted coal children...
Too many to count...
Maybe they are just foster coal kids...
Fix'em up and send them off to a good home...
Now I need the coal heat because of the low cost...
But may need to go to an AA...
Because I have so little free time with 3 little ones...
Coal heat is one of the little joys in life...
Even better last winter when the power was off for 6 days...
The house was 70*+ the whole time...
And I did not have to run a genny...
It was like camping...
but warm and dry...
And coal ash is a GREAT traction aid...
I love puttin' it under Prius tires when the owner gets their car stuck...
On a flat sheet of ice...
Then tell them...
It was my COAL stove that made the 'magic sand'...

I guess it all depends on how dirty one is. I put my coal in 5 gal buckets and store it in a shed outside, I bring it in the house as needed and pour it right into the hopper. Yes, we have some dust, and we have to wipe things down that are near the stove but when I compare the cost of 3 tons of coal (less than $500.00) with what 500 gallons of fuel oil would cost, I'll put up with the little bit of dirt that comes with the coal.

Gas came down my road a year ago so I sold my coal boiler which paid for a new gas boiler. The gas is bill is almost to the dollar what it cost me for bulk coal by the tractor trailer load, about $1200 for the year year using a high efficiency gas boiler/DHW heater. I miss the coal routine a bit & the blue dancing ladies and the camaraderie of this board. I am spending more time in warmer places in the winter and being away isn't conducive to coal burning. There is a learning curve to coal, that's what made it fun. - Mitch
