There's been a lot of wives here of that mind until they feel the constant radiant heat of a coal fire soak into their bones. And then when they discover that it is 1/10 the work and they don't have to wait for the hubby to come home and lug in more wood. They don't have bugs, mud, bark and crap all over the floor because there is no lugging in pile after pile of wood. They don't have to smell the stink of creosote either. After they find that none of that happens with coal then they tend to see the light.nortel33 wrote:See this guys wife doesn't like the coal stove.

But then again they might have swapped it out for one of these quiet, easy to use, super efficient models.

That's Hudson Valley women for you. When they get cold they go and sit in the BMW and turn on the engine and set the thermostat. Of course, the pollen filters on the car must be changed regularly too. You try talking them into coal it's not easy.
I put my stoker in the basement as fan noise does get jarring after a while. Provided the duct size is large enough and the LFM is low enough you don't hear a thing and I love HEPA filtering the air and that is the unique part that seems to be very healthy for me. You don't get that part easily any other way.

I bet the actual statement would be, "wife doesn't like the stove". It has nothing to do with the fuel, but the appliance it's burned in.nortel33 wrote:See this guys wife doesn't like the coal stove.
