I'd consider the four hundred fiddy a lesson learned. Trying to find/replace the parts they have will cost more than that. Could even cost you the stove.

I was having the same issue with my plating shop. Lots of missed dates and broken promises. I had got to the end of my rope and was willing to eat a $500 down payment just to get my parts back. My story ends well however... The day that I was going to stop in for a "friendly" visit, my parts were returned to me completed.

I would go there and ask for the parts. Take a chance asking some refund,nothing to loose in asking, just say that they admited the parts need new job but you should re-assemble the stove ASASP cause...............................you sold it ;) , just use the same speach they did use with you...
These parts are so important cause they are integral part of the antique stove: when I sent the parts for the Golden Bride and for the Sunnyside to be plated, I didn't even take a chance with a transporter, so easy to get parts losted for ever so I drove to Black Lake, about 2 Hrs to get there. That way you can personnaly meet the Boss and see how he ""talks"", I did ask him to show me some nickeled parts they did on antique stoves... When parts are done, you have the pleasure to discover parts just like when new, remember, a new nickel job is a shinny job, parts should look clear like chrome but having a light yellow hue. If not shinning like the Stanly Cup, parts have only been polished ...and you loose the Cup and $$$$
Then you drive back with ALL the parts in your car. Even when transporters offer a guarantee if parts are losted, better to make the trip yourself.

after reading so many complaints of parts NEVER being return, I would call tomorrow and tell them send them back with next day delivery.. allot of people never go their items back.

But even if it can happen 1 time on 1000 + times that parcels are losted, it arrives sometimes. Here at the office it arrived a couple times from recognised transporters :mad: . But the losted parts were regular and available parts but nobody could tell us what did happen to the losted boxes...
But if they were the Sunnyside 1874 parts that were losted, someone can tell me what to do then ?
Maybe radical but no chance to take with antique and unique parts...

upon review of Nu Chrome... its 100% clear the company will go under (I don't even believe they have a facility to do plating currently, if they do it will surly be seized soon), they currently owe Taunton 2 mil in back taxes (which is why there facility in Taunton was foreclosed on and seized. To access this building now requires going to the town admin. and being accompanied by a fireman because the EPA has started their testing and investigation of the sight (lets hope nu chrome got all the stuff out beforehand and did not simply leave boxes of customers stuff in their). This is a matter of time folks... this 20 man operation would have difficulty withstanding a town... they have ZERO hope of withstanding the feds or EPA!!!

The owner is fully aware of whats going on (lets not be fools here), he has had time to try to stash what he can... im not sure why he would spend $1.00 shipping things back to customers when its clear that will be $1.00 less he will end up with? I hope im wrong about this!!! does anyone else have another "take" on it (Maybe Nu Chrome has everyones parts and they don't mind paying out the labor and money to ship everything back to people BUT in all honesty folks...why would they???)

I spoke with them a couple of days ago. I spoke with oh what's his face, Mike I think. We talked for like 30 min, mostly him "explaining" to me (the uneducated) the chemical process of electro...bla bla bla. Long story short he said most of my parts don't look that bad, but a couple of them he said should never have left the shop that way. I told him NONE OF MY PARTS LOOKED THE WAY I EXPECTED (IE NONE OF THEM LOOKED LIKE ANY OF THE PICTURES MY "FRIENDS " ON THE FORUM POSTED IN REGARDS TO WHAT NEWLY DIPPED PARTS SHOULD LOOK) He said he would re dip the 4 parts that had rust on them still but maybe I should lower my expectations. I told him I would give him a chance to make it right. However I think I might call him first thing Monday and if he has not done them yet tell him to send them back ASAP..
