Old UAE now Mallard in Mt. Carmel Pa. has started opening on Saturday mornings now. All sizes bulk running $170 a ton. They have rice to Nut and the bins were full on Saturday. Not not too clean but the rest looked excellent.

That's what I usually do too. Though this season only about $500 of tax refund money went to coal.

I picked up my second ton yesterday. So I've got a two tons and 250 pounds of nut and 1/2 a ton of pea. Hopefully I'll be able to get a third ton of but this weekend.

Loaded up the bin a few weeks ago, dealer always runs a summer special, makes it worth while to get it no later than August. Should be good to go!

I buy 3 tons every year and use two and a half. Right now, I have two and a half in my inside bin, so I Think I'm good for the winter. If I run out in the spring I'll get a few bags at a time to hold me until warm weather.

Ordered my 6.5 tons yesterday.

Rice, Hard.
I like the Rice better in the EFM... maybe its just me but I like it...

usually burn about 5 tons during winter months and another 1 ton or so into spring and early summer.

Got an extra .5 this year based on the old farmers almanac. not really concerned if they are right or wrong because it'll all get used eventually and as they say when you need it you need it.

We'll see how it goes!

Had a doctors visit today & he told me to skip the coal furnace until at least Feb. so I guess I'll do one better & skip this year all together. It will make the wife & myself appreciate it all that much more next year. I may buy a ton just incase but I'll try to hold true to my word, in any event I'll ask what people think about what I was going to try this year. I bought a big box of sparklers from Sam's Club after the 4th of July & was going to try using maybe one of the small boxes inside (maybe 10 or 12) cut off the excess wire & bury all but one in the rice coal, light the last one & use it to bury & light the bunch then turn the air on & see how it lights. I figured (if it works) it would be cheap & easy.

Not sure if that would work but I can't imagine it wouldn't work! AIR +Spark = Fire????

Also
Not sure of your medical issues but Wish you the best as far as that goes. My grandfather always told me if you don't have your health you don't have anything. And that is the truth!

Thanks

I never have to order coal- the place I get it in NE Ohio always has it on site- bagged or by ton or pallet.

Got mine in May.. Since then I've wondered down into the basement once a week or so and looked at it. I'd come up from the basement with permagrin on my face. Wife says,"what you so happy about?" - "oh nothing hunny, its a coal thing" toothy
