The ash is going to consist of anything from fine powder to a chunky material. That won't work.

Here's grate from EFM hand fired boiler for example:

I think the actual temp at the base of the flames will be around 2000 * F in a stoker but since the fire is small it's kind of like a concentrated flame on a torch so to speak. My stoves body will reach 500 -600 degress on about a 2/3 burn.
Interesting I was just thinking about this the other day. I cant hold my hand at the exhaust vents of my dvc-500 if she is much above a simmer, and was wondering what that air temp was.

Coal combustion at maximum can heat to 3992*F ,oil @ 3902*F and Nat gas @ 3632*F.

These adiabatic combustion temperatures are rarely reached and a more

practical number is about the same as a candle flames hottest tip at about

2546*F.

For comparison a candle the center is at 1469*F the hot tip at 2546*F and the

most light part at 2780*F.Acetylene burns in pure oxygen in a torch at almost

7000*F.

Anthracite coal is usually referred to 1425*F in a stove or furnace with atmospheric

draft and up higher with forced draft.

I need a bigger stove. For 2,000 degrees it sure was cold in here this morning , 70. Had put the oven on in the kitchen for awhile.

It's hot enough for blacksmiths to make some really useful tools. :)
