Just North of Boston its 23F and had dipped down to 17F during the overnight.

Pellet Stove (First Floor Noth Wing) running on low in the LR - wall TStat says 68F. Using about 40lb per day.

Wood Stove (First Floor South Wing) in SunRoom - I've been throwing small splits just to keep it going and then load it up for the overnight burn - might get 4-5hrs from good solid oak dampened all the way down to lowest air intake setting. TStat says 74F in adjacent DR.

Coal Stove (Basement) - had thrown 3 scoops of nut and 1/2 scoop of pea around 2AM. Side of stove temp 394F at 930AM and basement is reading 68F.

Tonight expected temps dropping to single digits.

We warmed up quite a bit - 43* with a full sun. That's enough for me to go in the bee hive and insure the girls have food to last until the next break in the weather. The girls seem to be doing ok and I got 4 stings for my effort - ingrates.

It's dropping back to the low 30's tomorrow. I'll be sipping coco and eating bon bons by the stove. Lisa

I quit paying attention to all the horrible warnings, after all the hype we'd get a little dusting.

In the mid 1980's there was a hurricane coming, I was watching television, NY news anchor Chuck Scarborough was on Hurricane Watch. He kept saying the storm was coming, kept saying "T Minus 1 hour" , "T-Minus 1/2 hour", "T-Minus 15 minutes!!!". By the time the storm was supposed to hit I was ready to jump out the window. I never could stand to look at that knucklehead again.

It just hit 0F on my porch. Amazing how easy the house heats when there is no wind. 0 degrees outside, 72 in...doing it with 160 degree water in the baseboards and radiators. Add a 15 MPH wind to this situation and the boiler would be running all the time.

I have a lot of beer on hand, but I just pulled a Labatt Blue out of my box in the garage and it was partially frozen. Time to move the beer to the bottom of the basement stairwell...
