The Cold Weather Is Here!

$99 at Home Depot. The touch screen one is $149.00. The app is free.. Honeywell total comfort.

It's cool. I can keep the stat low and if I see the temp is going down I can do what I want from work. Or let it run by schedule. It's nice to see your house stay warm from the stove. And you get an idea when or if your coal is burning down.

Nice stuff those thermostats.
Here it is 10degree's Celsius, not much winter this year.
Inside comfortable 23 degree's.

I'm sitting toasty at work and feeling good knowing the house is at 71 deg F just at a glance on my phone. Yes amazing what technology does for us. Now to set up a web can to watch the stack temp and coal level ha ha

EDIT ....73 now !!!

Wind's coming up,and we've gone up from 6* to 12* with a forecast high of 33* for Saturday ! The door's closing for us on Sunday. Here we go. :box:

The 2 inches of snow we are expecting has turned into 8 to 10 inches with strong winds and drifting. It's supposed to be a light, fluffy powder. We are at our high temperature for the day and expect to be in the single digits by noon. The powers that be have already cancelled school due to the sub-freezing temperatures. This really has to stop - anymore lost days will have to be made up from Spring break or at the end of the year. I hate it when that happens. Take care, Lisa

I'm not happy with myself this morning. I'm looking at my wifi Tstat app from work and seeing the temp in the house dropping. I may have closed the bottom vent to much before I went to work. Dang! I don't want the oil boiler to come on. Maybe it will come alive as the day goes.

Oh well hopefully I don't have to re fire it tonight. What a pain!!!

Edit...... Called my son around 3pm and he said it was going ok, so had him open it up a bit and get her going more. Was doing great when I got home.... It's 10:48 pm and 9deg outside and 73 inside.

All is well!!

Does anyone remember the post about a weatherman predicting a series of extremely cold winters? I know it's on this forum somewhere but I cannot find it anywhere. It was a video someone posted of this weather scientist predicting that either 2014 and/or 15, if I recall, we're to be extremely cold winters. He had charts and graphs to explain his prediction and what made the weather happen that way historically. It was posted at least two years ago. Anybody remember this post?

The forecast was from Joe Bastardi and I believe I put it up there. I subscribe to his weather site. They are the tops when it comes to forecasting.
Here is the forecast for next week. There is to be two big shots of Arctic cold. The next one is going to be even colder than the one we have now.
