I have a ton of bagged Blaschak in the garage. I want to add another ton but am not sure if I can stack the pile any higher without the lower bags bursting from the combined weight. The stack has 40# bags, 6 in each layer, 8 layers high.

Anyone have an idea of a rough limit; save me finding out the hard way?

Can't say for sure but I've seen them 3 high but they had the plastic wrap around the pallets as well. I have had mine pretty close to two ton & never even considered the bag bursting (maybe I was lucky) but I would think it depends on how carefully you stack & how tall you are I would worry more about a bag sliding off & bursting.

I have stacked them 7' high with no explosions. Proceed at your own risk.

2 pallets high no issues...
If hand stacking as high as you can easily reach standing on the ground...
Just stack them like on the pallet...
Locks the bags together in the pile...

It will probably roll over and kill you before you can stack it high enough to split a bag!

i go 2 palletts hi still on the pallet w/ a 4 X8 shee tof 5/8 flake board in between

I've seen it piled 3 pallets high with no issues. Make sure it's sturdy.

Thanks guys. Sounds like I should have no problem adding the second ton on top of the first. I do stack them as in the original pallet, so that the pile is sturdy and not likely to fall over.

I stack them 12 - 14 high in my basement, depending on where. I'd go higher but that's all I can fit down there. Been doing that since I started burning in '05. I wouldn't worry too much about stacking them high. Might just break up the bottom bag into smaller pieces if it's nut or stove coal.

What does all that stacking of bagged Blaschak do with the overwhelming moisture content so many are complaining about on here??

Now you've done it...here comes another 20 pages about wet coal.

My source this year, Agway, stores it indoors and I have not had any wetness. I know others have, but not me.

The bottom bags WILL BE WET. I can guarantee that.

Pull one out & check.

It's like playing Jenga but with bags of coal.
