The laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are
neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. ...Such laws make things worse
for the assaulted and better for the assailants, they serve rather to
encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with
greater confidence than an armed man."

- Thomas Jefferson, quoting 18th century criminologist Cesare Beccaria in "On
Crimes and Punishment."

Hate to bring this up but if you read this was started some time ago, Obama has if fact signed an excutive order asking the EPA to evaluate their decision & timeframe unless I'm reading something wrong. http://www.masterresource.org/2011/03/e ... -proposal/

I think Obama's order was a general one, not targeted at EPA, but it certainly appears to be applicable to these types of EPA actions.

So far there aren't many dates but I also found this, http://www.barr.com/clientre/Archives/UtilityMACT2.asp the guy gets blamed if he does it or not, I like to find out who started it before I blame.
From what I could find it was signed into law in 90, IMO all these politicians sign stuff that may appease someone at the time & never look into the consequences on down the road. Guess they figure they will be long gone & someone else will get the blame & the whole time it's the tax payer that suffers.

I think the original federal Clean Air Act dates back to about 1963. It has been amended several times since then, and as far as I know has enjoyed fairly broad bipartisan support. As long as EPA does a reasonable job of ensuring that environmental regs maximize the excess of their benefits relative to their costs, the system works fairly well. The problem here is that EPA seems to be wandering away from that standard.

I agree with you on that but are they trying to protect citizens, their jobs or just perhaps the OIL Co.s, start looking into just what Co.s control most of the Nat. Gas in the U.S. & elsewhere. Who would benefit the most by converting coal burners over to oil & Nat. gas?
