Getting Coal Next Week!

The exact inside dimensions of my trailer are 10 ft. x 6 ft 2 in. When it was loaded at the breaker there was a crown of coal starting at the height of my lowest side boards, which is 27 in. above my trailer floor. I bagged what was in the crown and moved it to the pickup bed. I estimate I moved 750 lbs in ten bags. My trailer is manufacture tagged at 9,999 lbs, licensed at 10,000 and weighs 2700 lbs. Loaded slightly under rated capacity it tows well and is very stable. The loaded pea coal does settle after a few miles of travel. It also tends to move forward a bit.

I got all 6 ton yesterday!

When I got home....I went over to admire it.

It was beautiful! I just felt like sitting in the middle of the bin to take time to reflect.

All set for the winter! Just picked up 3.75 tons last weekend.

In true fashion, I overloaded my new equipment to see if it would pass my stringent test: 2,500 # 's in bed of truck (1/2 ton) & 5,000 in trailer (GVWR 2,990 with empty weight of 1,350! )

Trailer tires were looking scary. Inflated to 65psi (max) they were bouncing like basketballs over our lovely New England paved cowpaths. I would never take this setup on the highway, for obvious reasons! No swaybar, no trailer brakes & no equalizing hitch. I should do failure testing for trailer manufacturers!

The new Chevy 1/2 ton pickups are like a 1 ton from the early 90's. I was impressed! :headbang:

We picked up just over 2 ton in Indiana this past Saturday thanks to a recommendation of LSfarms! My trailer was filled to the top and thats all it held, though it would have held the 300 lbs more to make it 2.5 tons.
It was a comfortable trip back to Wisconsin.
I bagged some and stored it in the storeroom, the rest is in the wood box.
When it gets really cold I won't have to worry about the fire going out at night!
