To keep on topic, DVC-500 idling nicely since 3:00PM today, and keeping inside at 72-74F. Looks like its about 40F outside right now. Ooops! Just noticed this is the New York thread. Sorry guys! My bad.

Actually if one of the moderators can move this to the General Comunity forum or where you see fit, that would be fine. This doesn't really have to apply just to New Yorker's.

Me.
I sealed it up while still warm last spring, so I uncorked it, cleaned it and fired it up this evening. Method was an experiment and I'm happy to say I had the least corrosion I've had in the 3 yrs I've been doing it.

Care to share your methods? I usually remove the power vent motor and cage. The basement is kept dry with a dehumidifier so I usually don't have any issues with corrosion. I also didn't have many issues when I lived in PA except the time I took out the vent pipes for cleaning and didn't reinstall them right away. They rusted right up and I spent about 100 bucks replacing them.
Always looking for a better way.

2 new stoves hooked up and ready to go. 1 keystoker 90 at my house and 1 Koker at my girls. 5 tons of superior in the bin. 8 tons bagged reading in the basement. Thinking in a week to 10 days, first hard frost here in western pa. My first stoker. Gave up my Harman Mark 3 after 22 years. It was like givig up an old friend.
