Welcome Cisco, I live on Bald Mountain in Greenwich (using Alaska Channing 3).

Finally got my Keystoker 90K delivered yesterday and I installed it today. I got 2400lbs of Blaschak Anthracite Premium Rice coal in 40lb bags. I fired it up earlier today and have the house at about 70 but still haven't figured out a good feeding rate, too much ash on the bed. The coal in the two bags I've opened are wet. From everything I've read it will take a little work to figure it all out.

hey Cisco, congrats, yeah it will take a while to get the feed rate where you want. Post any questions about the keystoker under coal stoker forum. Blakshack coal in plastic bags are always wet, (it dries out in hopper before it gets to the feeder) my alaska has no problem feeding it. Where do you have stove located and where did you buy the blakshak coal?

Canastota, NY here,( about 30 miles east of Syracuse) first year burning coal,just got a Harman magnum stoker up and running on thursday. Still in the trial and error stages. This site is a wonderful knowledge base for me. Glad I found it!

Thanks Lee, I noticed it does dry in hopper. I am also opening and pouring bags into a small lawn tractor trailer I now keep in the garage so it's drying there too. The I have the stove located in my living room. I purchased the stove and coal from the Furniture House on Saratoga Lake. Paid $299 a ton. What about you?

Nice looking stove Cisco. If I were to ever move my stove into the living area, thats the color I would want.

Check your ash pan door. It appears it's not fully latched.

Thanks Ceccil. The color is what sold us on the stove. We were looking to buy a Reading Lehigh. He had a black Keystoker 90K in the showroom that didn't do anything for us. He had the one we bought in the basement and when we saw it we liked the color. Thanks for the heads up on the ash pan door. I caught on shortly after the pic was taken.

Hey gang, Kurt from Victor(near Rochester) NY. Just got my new Hitzer 50/93 installed this weekend and will fire her up tonight. New to coal burning but excited to get off the propane grid.

Be prepared to open some windows, the stove & pipe will throw some smoke until the paint is seasoned. After that...enjoy the heat!

I burned a hot fire with woods the past couple nights to burn offthe stove pipe and yes it put off some serious vapors and smoke for a few hours

You will like your coal bill, propane pricing is ridiculous

No doubt about that I hope to go from 1.5-2K a winter or more to under 1K not to mention much better heat
